What is Direct Ink Writing?

Direct Ink Writing (DIW) is a 3D printing method that extrudes pastes, gels and other semi-liquid materials through a nozzle, layer by layer. It works with materials that cannot be melted like filament or cured in a vat like resin.

Which materials can F-NIS print?

Any one-component paste or semi-liquid material from 20 to 1000 Pa·s: ceramic and zeolite pastes, silicones and elastomers, conductive pastes, UV-curable resins and gels, hydrogels. Version E also prints two-component pastes. For materials outside this range we offer an optional Viscotec volumetric head.

Which F-NIS version do I need?

Start from your material. A: one-component paste at room temperature. B: it cures under UV. C: it flows only when warm, up to 60 °C. D: it gels or slumps before the print ends. E: two materials in one part.

Can I upgrade F-NIS later?

Yes. Every version upgrades to a higher one. You add UV, heated cartridges, the cooled platform or a second head without replacing the printer.

Do I need a compressor?

F-NIS works at up to 4 bar as standard, up to 6 bar with the matched compressor and around 10 bar in custom builds. You can use your lab air supply or order the matched F-NIS compressor: 6 bar, 3.5 L tank, automatic start and stop, 45 dB.

Which slicer does it use?

F-NIS works with Simplify3D and PrusaSlicer. The Sygnis post-processor adapts the g-code to your material and controls the UV diodes. SYGPAST uses its own slicer, SYGPRINT.

What is the smallest nozzle?

F-NIS uses standard Luer Lock nozzles from 0.10 to 1.83 mm. 0.10 mm is the finest validated in our range.

How much does F-NIS cost?

The price depends on the version and accessories. Send us your material and application and we will quote the configuration that fits.

What is the difference between F-NIS and SYGPAST?

F-NIS is a compact DIW printer for material development. SYGPAST is a hybrid: it prints pastes and thermoplastic supports in one job, adds IR heating and checks every layer with a profilometer and IR camera.

Where are the printers made and supported?

Sygnis designs and manufactures its printers in Poland. Our own team supports every customer directly, from the first print on your material to service.

What cartridge sizes are available?

10, 30 and 55 ml cartridges as standard. For longer prints we offer cartridges up to 200 ml in custom builds.

Can the printhead be heated?

Versions C, D and E heat the cartridge up to 60 °C. For materials that flow only at higher temperatures, we build custom heated heads up to 140 °C.
